If two people have any kind of sex — oral sex, fingering, or penetration — there can be a risk of passing on sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The highest risk for HIV is usually penetrative sex (vaginal or anal) without a condom. Other STIs can also be passed on, but many can be treated easily if they are found early.

If you think you may have an STI, or you have had sex without protection, it’s a good idea to get tested at a sexual health center (link below). There is also a risk of pregnancy during sex between a man and a woman if semen comes into contact with the vulva.
